BRASIL was The Manhattan Transfer’s approach to Brazilian music. During the sessions, they worked with some of today’s most gifted songwriters, including Ivan Lins, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, and Atlantic Jazz recording artist Gilberto Gil. The songs were re-arranged and then re-fitted with English lyrics. The album won the Grammy for Best Pop Peformance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The song “Soul Food To Go” hit #25 on Billboard’s Top Adult Contemporary chart.

    Long time fan.I was lucky enough to see the transfer live at foxwoods casino in 1998. Soul Food To Go is my absolute favorite Manhatten Transfer song.

    These guys defy description; it’s absolutely food for the soul. I’ve been bucking a cold today, and listening to Manhattan Transfer has made the day sooooo much better. Long live this amazing group!!

    I purchased this cd in 1988. I loved it then and I ‘ve totally fallen in love with it in the last couple of days!! Soooo awesome.

    my wife and i have seen at least 10 times. saw the brazil tour at the old syria mosque, in pgh. it was the 1st concert our daughter saw. also the tour with the late keeny rankin will always stand out. as i think thy all were great.
