Last night was the final concert of our Japanese tour in Sapporo. It was cold and snowing here yesterday but didn’t seem to effect the energy of the concert. By the end of this tour all of us were feeling tired and started to show some wear on our voices. It’s time to rest the chords.
It’s really a joy to play with our band, our musical director on keyboards Yaron Gershovsky, Steve Hass on drums, Adam Hawley on guitar and Gary Wicks on bass. Each one a great musician but the magic is in their cohesiveness as a band. They, like the Transfer, are integral parts of a whole unit. Thanks guys for adding such great music to our voices.
And thanks Laurie “Greenie” Green, for keeping everyone organized and sane and looking so spiffy, and finally, Jonin and Matt, our sound engineers, who make it possible for us to hear each other on stage and for the audience to hear as well.
Safe journeys home everyone and have a good rest. See you in a couple of weeks in Cape Verde, Africa.
The Tokyo Blue Note run has been going well. It’s always such a joy to come and perform for our fans in Japan. We have been featuring songs from our new CD, The Chick Corea Songbook which was released here a few months ago. We have two more nights in Tokyo and then we’re off to Nagoya and then Sapporo.
I want to thank all of our wonderful fans that came to our sold out concert at the Jakarta Java Jazz Festival last night. You made us feel very welcome. Looking forward to another exciting show tonight, this time with The Ron King Big Band, it will be a swingin’ night!
We had a blast performing songs from our new album, The Chick Corea Songbook, along with a few chestnuts like “Route 66” and “Birdland” on Thursday September 24, 2009. A great group of fans and old friends came by to listen and say hello.
We also did a signing of the new CD. It was a little bit of a time warp, signing other material that people brought for us to sign, like tons of our old albums… ON VINYL!!! Fantastic. People brought some old posters, photos and other memorabilia that we haven’t seen in years. It was great fun signing our way along memory lane.
Thanks again to all for coming by to support us and the new album. We were thrilled with the turnout and all the terrific vibes people brought with them.
