THE SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS is The Manhattan Transfer’s spirited interpretation of the music of one of the greatest musical figures of the 20th century, Louis Armstrong. Produced by Craig Street, The Spirit of St. Louis captures the vocal group at its best, with strong individual and group performances wrapped around evocative arrangements that are both a nostalgic pastiche from the 1920’s to the 1950’s, and a completely modern take on Louis. This is a loving homage to a unique voice in musical history.

  1. I have always been a fan of The Manhattan Transfer – from the early days to now. I have been singing since I was old enough to talk and I truly appreciate the vocal quality and expression of this fine group. In fact, they are a true inspiration to countless lovers of vocal jazz and harmonizing. l am recently retired from my day job and my weekend band as well – and the Manhattan Transfer has inspired me to get off my butt and join a local vocal jazz ensemble. Thank you so much TMT !

  2. Again, Cheryl, alan, janis & tim deliver stellar performances………Yet another reason to acknowledge this quartet’s ownership of this style of music
